I bought my Harley Forty-Eight in July of 2022 at Huntington Beach Harley, CA. During a group ride that ended over at HB Harley, and in a spur-of-the-moment, I traded in my 2021 Sportster Iron 883. You can watch my Youtube video here titled:
WHY I BOUGHT A HARLEY DAVIDSON 48.
Over the next few months, I went on to upgrade the bike with a 3.3 Gallon Fuel Tank that I found on FB Marketplace, which came off of a 2009 Harley Nightster. The fuel tank install video can be found here HARLEY 48 FUEL TANK UPGRADE.
The stock 2.1 peanut tank would have worked great for local rides, but since I ride with a group where we would go to San Diego, Beaches, Lakes, and Mountains, I needed a slightly larger tank. If you watch my Iron 883 videos, you'll see that the 3.3 Gallon fuel tank is fine with going on long rides: TWO DAY ROAD TRIP ON MY IRON 883.
This bike has a Stage One upgrade with the SP Concepts Lanesplitter Exhaust (old exhaust was the Bassani Radial Sweeper), Arlen Ness Monster Sucker Air Filter, and a Dynojet PV4 tuner. Although I'm running the Dynojet PV4 tuner, I actually suggest going with the Vance & Hines FP3 tuner instead. You can watch my FP3 tuner video IRON 883 FP3 MAP AND AUTOTUNE SETUP or the PV4 video DYNOJET PV4 REVIEW for a comparison. Currently, I'm using a custom fuel map on my PV4 from FUEL MOTO USA and it's running great.
